Frankfurt - Germany's hidden surprise

When you visit Frankfurt for the first time, this city will surprise you and probably won’t match the suspicions you may have.

Home to the European Central Bank, Germany’s fifth largest city has long benefitted from a wide array of cultural influences brought in from across the continent.

Naturally, its modern superstructures in the central business are representative of Frankfurt’s financial force. Their economic growth and development has given the city an aspect closer to an North American city than to an European one, which originated the nickname ‘Mainhattan’.

Only because Frankfurt is Germany’s economic driving force, that doesn’t mean that the city has history, culture and sights to see. While there are elements of those around, this city is steeped in history too, so there’s no lack of curious culture or stunning architecture to be found.

One way to enjoy the city is the cruises down the River Main, which gives an amazing perspective of Frankfurt’s chronological progression. This river cuts the city in two and affords great views.
